Pumpkins, pumpkins, and more pumpkins!

Fall is a magical time of year, and there's no better way to celebrate than with a visit to a pumpkin patch. And if you're lucky enough to live in or around San Antonio, you're in luck! There are dozens of pumpkin patches to choose from, each with its own unique charm.

  • Owl Creek Farm: Owl Creek Farm is a popular spot for families with young children. The farm has a petting zoo, a playground, and a variety of fall activities, including a pumpkin patch, hayrides, and corn mazes. Operating dates: September 23 - October 31
  • Good News Pumpkin Patch: Good News Pumpkin Patch is another great option for families. The patch has a variety of pumpkins to choose from, as well as hayrides, inflatables, and mazes. The patch also hosts special events on weekends, such as movie nights and costume contests. Operating Dates: September 23 - October 31
  • Pipe Creek Christmas Tree Farm: Pipe Creek Christmas Tree Farm is a bit further outside of San Antonio, but it's worth the drive. The farm has a huge pumpkin patch, as well as a variety of other fall activities, such as hayrides, corn mazes, and a petting zoo. Operating Dates: September 23 - October 31
  • Helotes Hills United Methodist Church: Helotes Hills United Methodist Church has a pumpkin patch that's perfect for families with young children. The patch is small and easy to navigate, and it has a variety of pumpkins to choose from. The church also hosts a fall festival on weekends, which includes activities such as hayrides, games, and face painting. Operating dates: September 23 - October 31
  • Sweet Berry Farm: Sweet Berry Farm is a popular spot for families of all ages. The farm has a variety of fall activities, including a pumpkin patch, hayrides, corn mazes, and a petting zoo. The farm also has a cafe that sells fresh produce, baked goods, and other items. Operating dates: September 23 - November 12
  • Graf 7A Pumpkin Patch: also known as South Texas Maize, located at 911 US-90, Hondo, TX 78861. It is open from September 16 to November 12, 2023. Here are some of the activities you can enjoy at Graf 7A Pumpkin Patch: Pick your own pumpkin, Visit the corn maze, Go on a hayride, Play on the giant slide, Swing on the swings, Zip line, Play in the bubble corral, Enjoy live music, and much more!

  • Bulverde Pumpkin Patch: Bulverde Pumpkin Patch is a local family owned pumpkin patch in, wait for it....BULVERDE! Located at 3800 Ammann Rd In Bulverde (78163), they are operating from October 5th-31st.  Hours: Monday-Thurs from 1pm-7pm and Friday-Sun from 11am-7pm.  They are hosting their Fall Fest on October 23rd from 1pm-7pm and will have over 50 vendors, painting with goats, tractor rides, games, food/drinks and pumpkins! In addition to pumpkin patches, there are a number of other fall activities to enjoy in and around San Antonio. Here are a few ideas:

  • Fiesta Texas Fright Fest: Fright Fest is a seasonal event held at Six Flags Fiesta Texas in San Antonio, Texas. The event features haunted houses, scare zones, live entertainment, and other Halloween-themed attractions. Fright Fest 2023 will take place from September 10 to October 31. During the day, the park will be open for families with young children, offering family-friendly attractions and activities. At night, the park will transform into a haunted wonderland, with scare zones and haunted houses for guests 13 and older.

    Some of the popular attractions at Fright Fest include:

    • Haunted houses: Fiesta Texas has several haunted houses to choose from, including the new for 2023 "Clowncatraz" haunted house. Other popular haunted houses include "The Aftermath," "The Circus of Terror," and "The Gauntlet."
    • Scare zones: Scare zones are areas of the park where guests can encounter monsters, ghouls, and other scary creatures. Some of the popular scare zones at Fright Fest include "The Mortuary," "The Coven," and "The Graveyard."
    • Live entertainment: Fiesta Texas offers a variety of live entertainment during Fright Fest, including shows, concerts, and dance parties. Some of the popular live entertainment acts at Fright Fest include the Crypt Keepers and the Halloween Hootenanny.


    In addition to the attractions listed above, Fright Fest also features a variety of other Halloween-themed activities, such as pumpkin carving, trick-or-treating, and costume contests.

    • Zoo Boo: Zoo Boo is a seasonal event held at the San Antonio Zoo in San Antonio, Texas. The event features Halloween-themed activities for the whole family, such as trick-or-treating, animal encounters, and live entertainment. Zoo Boo 2023 will take place from September 30 to October 31. During the event, guests can trick-or-treat at candy stations throughout the zoo. Guests can also encounter animals up close and personal, and learn about their Halloween traditions. In addition, Zoo Boo features live entertainment, such as costume contests, animal shows, and dance parties.

    Some of the popular activities at Zoo Boo include:

    • Trick-or-treating: Zoo Boo features candy stations throughout the zoo where guests can trick-or-treat.
    • Animal encounters: Zoo Boo offers guests the opportunity to encounter animals up close and personal. Some of the animals that guests can encounter at Zoo Boo include bats, owls, and snakes.
    • Live entertainment: Zoo Boo features live entertainment, such as costume contests, animal shows, and dance parties.
  • SeaWorld Halloween Spooktacular: SeaWorld Halloween Spooktacular is a seasonal event held at SeaWorld San Antonio in San Antonio, Texas. The event features Halloween-themed activities for the whole family, such as trick-or-treating, animal encounters, and live entertainment. SeaWorld Halloween Spooktacular 2023 will take place from September 16 to October 31. During the event, guests can trick-or-treat at candy stations throughout the park. Guests can also encounter animals up close and personal, and learn about their Halloween traditions. In addition, SeaWorld Halloween Spooktacular features live entertainment, such as costume contests, animal shows, and dance parties.
  • Some of the popular activities at SeaWorld Halloween Spooktacular include:

    • Trick-or-treating: SeaWorld Halloween Spooktacular features candy stations throughout the park where guests can trick-or-treat.
    • Animal encounters: SeaWorld Halloween Spooktacular offers guests the opportunity to encounter animals up close and personal. Some of the animals that guests can encounter at SeaWorld Halloween Spooktacular include penguins, sea lions, and dolphins.
    • Live entertainment: SeaWorld Halloween Spooktacular features live entertainment, such as costume contests, animal shows, and dance parties.
  • Visit a haunted house: Haunted houses are a great way to get your Halloween fix. There are a number of haunted houses located in and around San Antonio, including the 13th Floor Haunted House and the Scream Hollow Haunted House.
  • Attend a fall festival: There are a number of fall festivals held in and around San Antonio throughout the fall season. These festivals typically feature live music, food vendors, and activities for all ages. Some popular fall festivals include the Helotes Fall Festival and the Boerne Oktoberfest. 
    • Boerne Oktoberfest is held on the last weekend of September, from Friday to Sunday. In 2023, it will be held on September 25-27.

    The festival takes place in Boerne, Texas, which is a small town located about 30 minutes northwest of San Antonio.

    The festival is held in the town's historic downtown area, and it features a variety of activities, including:

    • Live music from German bands
    • German food and drinks
    • A beer garden
    • A dance floor
    • Games and activities for children *Vendors selling German goods and souvenirs

    The festival is free to attend, but there is a charge for some of the activities, such as the beer garden and the games. Boerne Oktoberfest is a great way to celebrate German culture and heritage, and it's a lot of fun for people of all ages.
